«AM» Arctic Monkeys
The fifth studio album steeped in the paranoia and insecurities of tumultuous relationships with instrumental recordings complementing his depictions of nighttime misery. The lyrics deal with the main themes of the album: confusion, suspicion and fear.
Much of the anguish arises in perpetual motion in the «wee hours» of the night and it is during these hours that the hero seems most often to act in accordance with his feelings. When he eventually does it seems like he left it too late leading to an outright rejection (real or imagined?) from the object of his desire. Each song is not only a separate story of the hero, but also a premise for the next composition, thereby complementing the narrative with details.

The object is a long narrow canvas, referring us to the road which depicts the flowing narrative of the album’s story where there are no rigid divisions into individual compositions thus allowing the viewer to follow the full story.
Black and white image only plays on hand as each person sees and perceives the picture and music in their own way creating their own world with their own rules. The yellow elements refer to the highway markings in California, where the album was recorded.
A highway, a road, a story made up of words, images, images and thoughts. The ever-recurring themes of sex, lust, isolation, disappointment and the search for getting high not only from life but also from the voices within oneself.
