Major Grom: Plague Doctor (2021)

A detective chasing a vigilante to stop him. In this poster the antagonist, the Plague Doctor, looks back and finds the detective right behind him and watching him from a distance, symbolizing the detective’s desire to uncover the Plague Doctor’s true identity. The scene of the fire shows the destruction that the Plague Doctor has caused.

The concept taken for this poster is chaos. A pile of teddy bears with ties depicts corrupt people who have been given «punishment» by the rebels. The rebels who gather around the dolls form a unified form of the Plague Doctor mask. and below all that, a detective points a gun upwards indicating his readiness to face them.

The explosion and flames that burst from the energy tube create an illusion in the form of a mask. The dramatic and exaggerated curve of the explosion depicts the chaotic condition of the city and the unstable mind, while the «O» and «X» strokes symbolize duality. Beside the illusion, there is a picture of the building that is the icon of the place where the events in the film occur and a picture of the detective as the main character.

In this concept, the rebels are demonstrating outside the government building, demanding that they release the Plague Doctor. Inside the building, there is an official who decides to turn a blind eye to what is happening outside.

The concept of this poster is metaphorical. A painting titled «Justice Served» is displayed showing The Plague Doctor figure wearing a wig and a judge’s uniform pressing his finger on one side of a scale as a depiction of him enforcing justice in his own way, causing the scale on the other side to lift and become offbalanced so that the tie-wearing dolls fall as a depiction of the downfall of corrupt people.

For this concept, I used a plastic figure that looks like Detective Grom standing, casting a shadow of a cloaked figure behind him. His foot is tied with a rope symbolizes his justice that is still bound by the laws. On the head of the shadow figure, a paper airplane landed with a blood stain, creating the illusion of a Plague Doctor mask, depicting the Plague Doctor character working in the shadows, and his justice isn’t bound by the laws.
