Concept
«Requiem» is a street memorial dedicated to the tragic fates of Silver Age figures whose lives and voices were destroyed by the era of repression, revolution, and emigration.
The exhibition space is designed as a «corridor of memory»: the viewer is confined between heavy concrete walls and black metal trusses that symbolize the ruthless pressure of state coercion and the inevitability of oblivion. Traversing this corridor mimics the path taken by repressed and exiled creators. Fragile black-and-white portraits, final letters, and manuscript fragments are scattered across the walls. At the end of the journey, the viewer encounters a wooden cross as a symbol of memory, pain, and spiritual endurance.
The title «Requiem» functions not as a funeral mass, but as an act of reclaiming names from oblivion. The exhibition is built upon a stark contrast between rough, oppressive matter and weightlessness; step by step, the viewer journeys through the lives of poets and artists. The central message of the exhibition is that culture and humanity must not become mere victims.
