The book is based on the script for the production «The Last of Those Who Departed,» directed by Dzhambul Zhordaniya. This one-man show, based on Bagrat Shinkuba’s book The Last of the Departed, recounts the tragedy of the Ubykh people, who were forcibly displaced en masse from their ancestral homeland to the Ottoman Empire during the Caucasian War.
